Mansz and McKerral:
our Fundy home
on the web!

Well, maybe not building, but demo' and reno'.

Original Here are some snaps of the house from the outside before we start:

back...  front...

Also check out these shots of the inside before we bought the house.

August

Things are back on track again -- might even have two crews working.  Now looking at Christmas by the time we are moved in.

Starting on the kid's rooms:

Excavated for the games room and the garage:

July  We're on a bit of a hiatus -- sharing resources with Kerry, and we also need to get a firm handle on build estimates.   Somehow we're up to ~7,000 sq.ft.!  Must reduce ...

Here, the second story of the addition has gone up (it'll be a sun room).  That's a (not very good) picture of Don, our architect, in the second picture.

There will be a two-way fireplace between the sun room and living room:

Second floor down onto foyer:

  ... and outside:

the barn's attic (maybe we'll make the barn into a guest house?); right now it's storage:

End of April

Early May

Things are moving along, albeit a bit slower than we'd like.

The bottom floor of the addition goes in (it'll be Pattie's exercise area)

outside...

inside ...    ... the three big (covered) openings will be windows.

April 16 - April 20 By this week all of the main floor rooms are framed in.

The foundation for the addition is done:

There are problems with the floor joists above the living room; some look to be the charred originals from the previous house (that burned down in the mid-eighties).  They are being replaced with engineered joists:

Also, the joists above what will be our master bedroom are too small (2x6) and run too far; so a very large cross beam is put in, that will be incorporated into a bulkhead on entry into the room:

April 1-12, 2001 Demolition starts, and a hole is dug for the sun room addition.

... the basement (demo'd then cleaned up)

... the kitchen

... the living room (demo'd then cleaned up)

... the old upstairs master bedroom

... the old upstairs master bath

... and finally the mess and a new hole
